What Does “Solid Stainless Steel” Mean?

What does it mean when we say Stührling Original watches are made from “Solid Stainless Steel”? Most timepieces on the market are made from stainless steel, but not all of them share the characteristics of a properly made, high quality case that resists structural damage. For example, many mass-produced watches use “cast cases”, which are made using molds. While these cases serve their  intended purpose, they are more brittle and prone to damage. We do not use cast cases. Every stainless steel watch in Stührling Original’s collections is blanked from bars of solid stainless steel – that means heavy duty machinery is used to cut and shape the cases from solid metal, allowing the steel to retain its strength and structure. The cut steel is then heated, shaped, and cooled up to thirty times to form the case design according to custom-engineered schematics. That’s right, every single case design for Stührling watches is drawn up by our master engineers working in our dedicated factories; we never buy or use outside case designs! We are dedicated to the entire culture of watchmaking, and it shows in the craftsmanship of each and every one of our timepieces. And we are proud to share them all with you!
