Daylight Savings Time

We hope you didn’t forget to move your clocks and watches back one hour for Daylight Savings Time. It’s an interesting ritual to turn our clocks back or forwards an hour, but there was once a reason to do it. It wasn’t just so that everyone could have an extra hour of daylight or an extra hour of sleep at night, but for agricultural reasons; it was done to exploit the daylight hours in the Fall and Summer so that farmers could make the most out of their fields and crops. More sun meant more crops, which also meant more income. It later evolved into a ritual used to decrease the use of electricity in homes, but for the most part, Daylight Savings has become a rather superfluous custom that hasn’t entirely gone away.
